Writing, Poetry, and the Language of Transcendence – Writing is a bridge between our mature adult artist and the wide-eyed inner child.
Poetry
- Helps to better articulate and get closer to expressing emotional sensations
- Types of poems: Story, Image, Comparative
- Story - Reveal our inner narrative and ‘storie’ about our past
- Connect with someone who is dedicated to creative living (weekly)
- Notice what drains vs. energizes you
- Image - Words that paint a picture or describe an image

- Comparative - Using metaphor and simile to identify feeling

Prose
- Can be as simple or complex as necessary to express a point
- Gives you the further clarity of expression and freedom to explore your ideas
- Similar to poetry for expressing descriptive and artistic elements
- Exercises:
- The Daily Dump - Write in long hand for three pages or 30 minutes of purging your worries, tasks, resentments, and gratitude every morning. Do not edit. Resist the urge to re-read until after several weeks of regular entries These pages are for your eyes only.
